Zombie Tabletop Role-Playing Games (TTRPGs)[]
Zombie video games certainly aren't the only type of zombie games out there: zombie tabletop RPGs are also very popular.
Similar to Dungeons and Dragons these games let a group of players struggle to survive in a post-zombie apocalypse world, using dice and their imagination (and sometimes also tabletop maps and miniatures) to determine who "wins".
There are two types of zombie RPGs: games specifically designed for zombies, and "generic" RPGs which offer support the zombie genre.
Zombie-Specific RPGs[]
Name | Year | Description |
---|---|---|
All Flesh Must be Eaten | 2004 | One of the oldest and most well-established zombie RPGs, and it offers a variety of different zombie settings. |
Red Markets | 2016 | A newer RPG, which focuses on the "economic horror" of living in impoverished areas next to zombie-controlled areas and having to conduct raids into them for supplies, with lots of procedurally-generated content. |
Generic (Zombie-Supporting) RPGs[]
Name | Year | Description |
---|---|---|
Apocalypse World | 2010 | An extremely popular narrative-focused RPG that lets the group define any apocalypse ... including one with zombies. |
GURPS | 1986 | One of the oldest and most successful generic RPGs, which offers detailed "crunchy" rules and an entire sourcebook just for zombie games. |
Tiny Living Dead | 2019 | A newer generic RPG that focuses on offering short/fast rules (and also has an entire book devoted to zombies). |
