History[]

Aether Story[]

Samantha was born on November 5, 1934 to Group 935's leading scientist, Dr. Ludvig Maxis and his wife, but when she was born, her mother died in child birth, leading Ludvig to keep his daughter close to him at all times. It was however due to his work as a scientist that caused Samantha to become neglected, to the point where Maxis' assistant, Dr. Edward Richtofen, began performing experiments on her behind his back. During these experiments, Richtofen learned more about Samantha and grew to hate her due to his superiors attachment to his child and what they had become as a result. On one of the experiments with the teleporter, Samantha was teleported with her dog Fluffy to Griffin Station, where she accidentally came into contact with the Moon Pyramid Device. In an attempt to take control of the device from Samantha, Richtofen brought Maxis to his daughter, but rather than reason with her, he ordered her to kill them, following him committing suicide. The death of her father caused Samantha to go on a rampage, killing those in Group 935, as well as switching bodies with Richtofen before both of them incinerated the Earth.

A decade following the Earth's demise, Samantha remained trapped within Richtofen's body, until a plan her father put in place came to fruition. When the last of a polarization device was activated in the favor of Maxis from an old western looking mine, her soul was extracted from the body of Richtofen and brings it into Agartha. Once there, both she and her father saw how corrupted each other where she reached out to other universes, following the opening of a rift. She reached out to Dimension 63's version of her father and begged for her release, while also relaying a warning from the Ancients. Ludvig at some point, became consumed by her voice, believing Samantha as the key to everything. She attempts to reach out to Dimension 63's Richtofen, Dempsey, Nikolai and Takeo, talking to them, with promises and threats should they not comply. Though Richtofen resists her initially, he and the others grant her request, openning the gateway, freeing Samantha once again.

Following her liberation from Agartha, Samantha finds herself in what looked like her house, where she is reunited with Dimension 63 Ludvig and Doctor Monty. She realized that she was still corrupted by the Dark Aether, leading to Monty taking her for an undisclosed amount of time, returning her, having restored her so called "Innocence". Once back, she meets a version of Eddie, a version of Richtofen from Dimension 2210, which Primis Richtofen brought with him to the house. Samantha spends time with Eddie at the house until the souls of Nikolai, Dempsey, Richtofen and Takeo come to them in the form of children. Though this seems like an ideal life for them, it's suddenly interrupted by the arrival of the Shadowman, within the summoning key, with knowledge that Maxis was lacking his soul, exploiting his chance to take possession of his body. Now with a body and the power of the key, the Shadowman used it's power to bridge dimensions, summoning the Apothicons from the Dark Aether, allowing them a return to Agartha. It's then that Richtofen has Primis drink blood from the Alcatraz Pocket Dimension, outside of Monty's control, sending Primis back to the Great War to continue the cycle, as Monty truly wanted.

It's then however that the cycle is broken, causing Ludvig to teleport both Samantha and Eddie to Camp Edward in order to protect them from Monty. Before teleporting to the camp however, Samantha witnessed the Keeper slay and devour her father, causing her to unleash her powers within a fit of rage. She would then accompany both Ultimis and Primis groups into the forest, where they mostly get drunk, but all but Nikolai Primis was alive from poison he laced the drinks with, causing the death of his comrades. He then tells Samantha to execute him, which she does, telling Eddie to look away while he carried out his sentence. Following this, the use the Seal of Duality to enter a new universe, free of the Dark Aether's corruption.

Dark Aether Story[]

Following her arrival in the new universe, Samantha possessed no memory of the universe prior, growing up in a West German orphanage. By 1973, she graduated Heidelberg University with an applied mathematics bachelor degree and a minor in linguistics. In the very next year, the BND recruited her, due to her fluency in English, French and Russian. She would find herself in Iran during 1979's Islamic Revolution, where the Shah was overthrown. It was then that while the CIA and many Western Intelligence Agencies attempted to extract the Shah from the country, that many diplomats were left behind in the country. Samantha however, was extracted, thanks to Grigori Weaver, who was willing to go off the books to get her out. This kicked off a strong friendship between the two. One mission, both attempted to save a "boy", but during that mission, she was distressed to the point of sleeplessness, due to an explosion from outside. Weaver arrived at her apartment, injured, telling her that the boy was supposed to be with his mother, only for him to be within a house, as it burned to the ground.

By 1983, Samantha noticed something wrong within her place of employment, as Dieter, one of her colleagues, warned her about the agency pulling a list of foreign nationals and defectors who worked for the BND 5 years prior to her arrival. Not long after, Tatyanna, Maxis' contact in the KGB, sent her a message about a file from the Soviet archives, about a World War 2 facility called Endstation. She soon received a tape from her KGB contact about what the Russians were doing at Endstation, but later sent it off to Weaver. By early November of 1983, Maxis contacted Weaver, urging him to watch the tape, revealing that the outbreaks happening all over the world was caused by Endstation and KGB's Omega Group. It was due to this that the CIA created their own group called Requiem, where Weaver offered protection for Samantha, only for her to decline, as she was needed in the field. She was now operating without oversight or authorization, as she believed that Omega Group has infiltrated the BND. She would then be pursued by agents sent to look for her, only for her to fend them off to meet a contact in Omega Group, Sergei Ravenov. Believing he could be turned, Samantha went to Romania, but later went to Vietnam, where she found Outpost 25, an Omega Group base, as well as encountering Dr. William Peck.

Maxis was able to gain information, provided by Ravenov, that Omega Group wished to bridge dimensions with the Dark Aether, using Aetherium to win the Cold War. In 1984, Samantha was captured and interrogated by Peck while at Outpost 25. Following withstanding their torture and refusal to disclose information to them, Peck threw her into the Dark Aether dimension, She would then spend more time in the dimension, as time passed differently between both of them, but she was able to escape with the aid of Requiem and Ravenov. She would then aid in their fight with an Orda before leaving and returning back with Requiem, as Ravenov returned to Omega Group to take part in a large operation within the Ural Mountains. Maxis was then placed in quarantine, upon their arrival to Requiem HQ. She was subjected to tests, which revealed that due to the time difference of the dimensions, what she believed was her stay in the dimension was 48 hours, was actually months. Kept in a sterile room, Maxis was questioned by Requiem's scientists, as well as Weaver. While looking back at her past experiences and dreams, Maxis began a diary and to combat her loneliness, she was given a rottweiler. She also kept in touch with strike teams within the Ural Mountains via radio, but due to her outbursts at medical staff, the radio was taken from her due to her instability.

In October of 1984, she went behind Weaver's back and with the aid of Ravenov, as well as an uncertain Doctor Grey, established radio contact with the strike team in the Ural Mountains, which was covert. She looked to stop the Russians operations and experiments into reality inversion warheads built from Tempests by Peck. These machines were designed to create dimensional breaches and outbreak zones. Ravenov and the strike team in Ruka were able to change the trajectory of the warhead from the US' east coast to that of the Pacific Ocean. Following their fight and victory over Legion, they destroyed the aetherium crystals blocking the three missile silos, which launched their ordinance into the Pacific. With the mission complete, Samantha came into contact with Raptor One to exfil the team, leaving Ravenov behind. Even though she worked with good intentions, Samantha's hijack of a Requiem communique caused an uproar in the higher ups, causing the strike team to barely evade a court martial, however were spared by the director and Weaver took the heat for it. Samantha would then be berated by Weaver for her actions, but she attempted to defend her position on the matter, but this caused her walking privileges suspended and that somebody else would have to walk her dog.

Samantha was, however, unaware of how the director was scrutinizing her for what happened and after further observation from Grey, Samantha possessed a different reaction to the aetherium crystals than others before her. As a result, she was dragged from her quarters for more testing while Weaver took care of her dog. Samantha was brought to the Block 8 testing facility, where following her stay there for 48 hours, attempted escape. During her escape attempt, she was detained and isolated for sometime, until December 1st, where she finally met the Requiem Director, as he personally oversaw the tests of telekinetic powers. Though their first meeting was to be a form of orientation on the official report, the Director subjected her to interrogation and electrocution, demanding answers to questions that he seemed to know already. Following this, Samantha attempted her second escape, using a plastic fork as a makeshift lockpick, but was detained again. 6 days later, she met with the director again, this time he requested her to demonstrate her telekinetic powers, but to no avail. On December 22, he met with her again, this time playing with her emotions, as a way of getting her to use her powers. Such things including calling her names and even threatening to make Weaver disappear. The emotional strain got to her, angering her to the point where she shattered glass with her powers.

She remained in Block 8, until February 28th, where she was cleared to rescue a strike team, along with Raptor One from being killed by Lev Kravchenko in an Omega Group chopper, by opening a dark aether portal within Berlin, allowing them to arrive at Block 8. The director was able to review the footage, which made him realize her powers were growing, making her a possible threat. It would be by May 28th that the Director cleared Samantha for "Operation: First Domino", which he planned on using her abilites to help Requiem, but he did say she was not able to directly re-join Requiem. Samantha then manifested in Test Site Anna before saying her goodbyes to Weaver and Grey, where the Forsaken escaped from the Dark Aether. She held him back with her abilities while the strike team created an aetherium neutralizer and travel to where Samantha was battling Forsaken. She and the strike team took him down with 2 nearby energy cannons, that were charged. As the Forsaken began his invasion of Earth, Samantha flew the Forsaken into the portal behind him, closing the rift behind both and sacrificed herself in the process. Following this incident, her status is unknown.

Characteristics[]

Physical Appearance[]

Samantha was born a caucasian female of German descent, initially starting out as a 7 year old little girl with brown hair and green eyes on Moon. This later changed, as her eyes would become blue with black hair. Once she was 30, she maintained her blue eyes, while also possessing brown hair, though she likely dyed her hair. She also has several scars going across her cheek, near her eye and going down towards her mouth. It's unknown as to how she got these marks, though it's likely she got them growing up as she didn't possess them when she was a child. Following her liberation from the dark aether dimension however, her eye color had changed again, this time to a rather unnatural purple, due to her time within the dimension, which was a couple of months. She speaks with a german accent, but it's not thick.

Personality & Traits[]

Samantha is a kind, but rather mentally scarred person, having witnessed the deaths of her father from the dimension she was born and the one killed by Doctor Monty. These events, as well as the death of Nikolai Primis by her hand, caused her great mental anguish. Though she can be a bit rash, Samantha does have a good heart and is always looking to do the right thing, regardless of what others may think.
