Ronald Chandrake is a Vampire and Mayor of New York city, exclusive in George Romero's Empire of the Dead.

History

Little is known about his history, however what's likely known is that he was a vampire well before the zombie apocalypse came about.

Act 1

5 years following the apocalypse, Ronald had established New York City as a safe haven for survivors. He has kept his cabal of vampires secret, with only a select few even knowing of their existence, including zombie wrangler, Paul Barnum. He has also been having his men round up homeless children on buses and bringing them to farms for their blood to be harvested, which he looks to keep extremely hidden, as he's seeking re-election as mayor. He finds himself also attracted to Penny Jones, a doctor from Columbia Hospital, who he meets in person, following his visit to the Circus Maxima Arena.

Physical Appearance

Ronald is a Caucasian male in his 30s, possibly 40s, however is much older than he looks, due to being a vampire. He is very well groomed, has jet black hair, beard and brown eyes. He also has fangs, which he is capable of retracting. As a mayor, he typically wears formal attire, mostly that of a suit, but has worn other outfits.

Personality & Traits

Ronald wears the mask of a kind, chivalrous and generous man, with a charming personality to boot. He mostly puts this on for the public and those who he meets in person. For those who do know him however, his true personality is that of a greedy, cunning and cutthroat politician, looking to do anything he can to ensure his power as mayor is assured. As a husband, he's also very abusive to women, as he was shown striking Lilith prior to her going to Paul.

Powers

• Vampire Physiology: As a vampire, Chandrake possesses many of the same abilities associated with his species.
  • Immortality: Upon becoming vampires, they cease aging, remaining in the physical state they were reborn in for eternity. Chandrake is incapable of dying like humans.
  • Superhuman Strength: Chandrake is very strong, able to injure another vampire significantly. This was seen when he beat Lilith. He even killed a human with one swift strike.
  • Superhuman Durability: As a vampire, Chandrake was shot at several times by Perez and despite bleeding, he was unphased.
  • Accelerated Healing: Vampires are able to regenerate from injuries that are otherwise fatal to humans and Chandrake is no exception.

Abilities

• Genius-Level Intellect: Ronald is shown to be a genius, capable of planning ahead in case something goes wrong. He was able to ensure that he destroyed his own plane to make it look like he was killed in the explosion. During his escape, he also revealed that the train car he was in, was built from all the gold in the New York Federal Reserve, as a way to ensure he and his escaping cohorts had wealth to assure they were still able to survive and maintain their lifestyle.
• Seduction: As a vampire, Ronald is able to seduce anyone he desires. This was seen when Penny fell victim to his charm.
