K17-PXVI, is a fictional flavivirus that started to spread since November 27th 2017 where it originated from King County. This takes place in "The Awakening." The virus is also colloquially known as Plaxiavirus. ElectricFanatic & Harvester created the scenario that mentions the virus and its name.

Story[]
On Day 1 of the mysterious flu-like illness, Seattle health officials reported 120 cases and responded accordingly. Several days later, riots erupted in the city. Eventually, the virus began to spread globally after the blockade around King County was breached. Despite this, the authorities responsible for the blockade claimed that nothing had happened. As a result of this deception, the virus escalated from an epidemic to a pandemic crisis that no country, including India and China, could contain.
Transmission[]
The Plaxiavirus can spread through various means, such as bats, insects, contaminated objects, and the air. Poor hygiene, failure to wash hands, and close contact with infected individuals, whether zombified or not, can also lead to transmission. The most likely transmission mode is through bites, beatings, or scratches from zombies on humans. Once infected, death can occur rapidly within twelve minutes to three days.
Infection[]
The Plaxiavirus infection can bypass the immune system, allowing it to hijack the brain of its host. Classic symptoms of a virus begin to appear, but they rapidly escalate once it seizes control of the brain. The Plaxiavirus takes over human cells and produces more virus particles until it reaches the brain. The virus has a mortality rate of 99.6% and was originally 140% infectious, but the variants have made it even more infectious at 260%. The virus is highly severe, with a severity rate of 85%. Once the virus hijacks the brain, the person quickly deteriorates and dies. After death, the victim reanimates into a zombie with a bloodthirsty rage. Zombies go on a killing spree, attacking anyone not yet infected.
Abilities[]
When a person becomes a mindless Plaxiavirus zombie, their strength increases significantly, making it difficult to take them down with a firearm. It may require multiple shots to neutralize them, but one shot to the brain is enough to kill them instantly. Unfortunately, the virus has resisted treatments such as Ibuprofen and Cough Medicine, making it even more challenging to combat. The virus can destroy the person's mind but maintain control over their body. The effectiveness of any vaccine against the Plaxiavirus remains uncertain due to the collapse of civilization.
Symptoms[]
Symptoms of the virus include fever, sweating, nasal congestion, runny nose, coughing, sneezing, nausea, vomiting, muscle fatigue and aches, abdominal cramps/pain, shortness of breath, extreme thirst, high body temperature, organ failure, slurred speech, confusion, and eventually violent and animalistic behavior.
