Plants Vs. Zombies is a tower defense action video game developed and originally published by PopCap Games for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. The game involves a homeowner using many varieties of plants to repel an army of zombies from "eating their brains".
Comparison to the "Standard" Zombie[]
They were created by Dr. Zomboss, though his means of doing so remains a mystery. The basic zombie moves at a slow walk deal with obstacles (such as plants) by eating them and can use various tools such as improvised helmets (for protection) or swim rings (to move on water). There are numerous zombie variants with additional traits such as greater movement speed (Football Zombie), use of equipment to leap over obstacles (Pole Vaulting Zombie), massively-increased size and strength (Gargantuar), driving vehicles (Zomboni), and working as a team (Zombie Bobsled Team). The zombies also seem to be supernatural in nature since the Dancing Zombie can summon more zombies. All zombie types can coordinate to attack in waves. They take increased damage from fire attacks and are slowed (or even temporarily immobilized) by freezing attacks.
The zombies will change their clothing and weapons to fit into their current environment.
Whatever caused these zombies to exist also seems to affect other animals such as dolphins, weasels, seagulls, pelicans, dogs (a scrapped concept from 1st Plants vs. Zombies and later used on Plants vs. Zombies Heroes), and chickens
In An Apocalyptic World[]
Surviving an apocalypse with Plants vs. Zombies zombies would depend heavily on what kinds of zombies you encounter. The basic zombies are slow but their protective equipment could make it difficult to kill them with melee attacks. Bullets are more likely to penetrate, but they may ricochet if they hit at an angle, especially against the sturdier kinds of protection (like the Buckethead Zombie's bucket). The more advanced zombies are difficult to handle due to the wide variety that you could potentially face. Fighting a Gargantuar is not recommended, as it has vastly superior strength and durability - unless you have anti-armor weaponry, avoid them.
Given the above, it may be preferable to hide and avoid encountering zombies in the first place. However, not only would this be nearly impossible due to the various reasons you might need to go out (Scavenging, for example), you would have to avoid leaving any traces that would allow the zombies to find your home. Once they find your home, they can communicate with their fellows and call in massive hordes to overwhelm any defenses you might have. They will keep attacking until they manage to kill you.
In short, unless you have a connection to Bloom and Doom Seed Co. and can obtain zombie-hunting plants, long-term survival in a world of PvZ zombies seems unlikely. You will either have to somehow never get caught by the zombies or stop the entire goddamned zombie apocalypse by killing every last one ofthe zombies.
