Honolulu is located on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. It is also the capital of the State of Hawaii. Due to it's location in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, as well as it being home to Naval Station Pearl Harbor and Hickam Airfield makes it an ideal place to ride out the zombie apocalypse.

Honolulu is the current seat of government and de facto capital of the United States in the Max Brooks novel, World War Z. It is unknown if the Honolulu or the Hawaiian Islands had cases of infection before the US government relocated here. All five branches of the military operated here (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard), this may be the reason why there were no infected in Hawaii by the time the President escaped here, implying the remnants of the military cleared the islands of zombies.
