Col. Christina Eliopolis is a fictional character and human survivor in Max Brooks' novel World War Z. She was portrayed by Becky Ann Baker in the audiobook.

Overview[]

Little is known about Eliopolis' origins, except for the fact that she had a somewhat complicated relationship with her mother and that she was a pilot, flying an FA-22 Raptor, which she regard as flying the "closest thing to an X-Wing fighter".

World War Z[]

By the time of World War Z, Eliopolis was reduced to flying C-130 airdrops over the states, sending in supplies and specialists not readily available to those in infested areas. During one of her missions, she was forced to use the bathroom aboard the craft due to her stims. Once she finished, the plane somehow, started going down and she was sucked out of her craft's fuselage, spiraling out of control. She was able to straighten out and deploy her parachute, witnessing the wreck of her craft going down in the distance. She noticed the only other chute that punched out as well, with her remaining crew likely dead. She had landed somewhere within the swamps of Louisiana, where she looked over her essentials, as well as checking her survival kit and weapon. She detached from her chute and hid it before going for the location of the other chute. It took her a couple of hours before finding her co-pilot Rollins, hanging in a tree, still attached to his chute and with several zombies feasting upon his corpse.

She snapped her suppressor on her weapon and took out the zombies, as well as took out Rollin, who reanimated before her. She blamed herself for what happened and then her radio squawked, revealing to be a sky watcher named Mets Fan or Mets. She told Eliopolis not to worry and that she already contacted search and rescue and told her to get to open ground so she could be picked up. Christina was actually in the Atchafalaya Basin, leading her to look at her map and find the I10 freeway, which Mets revealed was ideal for pickup. She had to move through treacherous terrain and found a road, which Mets warned her not to tread, as well as any other roads crossing the basin, due to the fact that roads had cars with zombies in them, which could grab her, as well as moan. She treaded anywhere that was wilderness, as much as possible and encountered a zombie child, which she dropped. She eventually came across a Lexus Hybrid SUV, which had civilian survival gear in it, which she would've used for an emergency cache if necessary, but Mets told her to keep going, leading to an argument. She then was alerted to the sound of zombies converging on her position, which led her to get up on top of a car and take out the zombies. Her total kill count there was 61 and then waited for the next wave, which never came.

It was this distraction that lead Mets to question Christina where she would sleep for a bit. She found a perch in the branches of a tall tree, setting up her hammock and getting into it before asking Mets about herself. Mets said "There will be plenty of time for an episode of The View later", leading them to break contact. When she awoke, she found her tree surrounded with zombies, which eagerly tried to grab her. She then packed her gear up and planned to leap from the tree, then tuck and roll, then start charging away. She cracked her ankle on a rock beneath some nearby water, leading her to land in some water face down. The cold was enough to keep her from blacking out and got up, chocking and catching her breath while also looking towards the horde, converging on her position. Mets told her to get up and run, but she would feel extreme pain when she did, leading her to limp towards the freeway, with zombies on her tail. She made her way to a road with grabbers inside the car, which moaned that carried for miles. She was then able to make it to a chopper, which was a civilian UH-60, that according to her, had no contact from a sky watcher by the name of Mets Fan anywhere. Following this, led her to have psych evaluations, which despite everything, didn't revoke her flight status.

Characteristics[]

Physical Appearance[]

Eliopolis is described as having a "diminutive, child-like frame", with long black bangs and delicate facial features, which "reinforced the picture of eternal youth", complete with fire behind her eyes.

Personality & Traits[]

Christina is described as being a legend for her temper, as well as her outstanding war record, indicating she is a good soldier. Evidence suggest that during her entire incident in Louisiana, she hallucinated Mets Fan, but she insisted otherwise. Aside from this, Christina enjoyed flying the FA-22 Raptor, which she remarked could "Outfly and outfight God and all his angels" and was easily upset when she was reduced to flying something she considered a "U-Haul".
