Dr. Albert Wesker is a fictional character and one of the major antagonists of the Resident Evil Franchise, serving as a virologist and later, bio-terrorist.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
While much of his early life, even his real name remains unknown, Wesker inherited intellectual genes, which gave him an advantage. It was also the reason that he was taken at a young age by agents of Dr. Oswell E. Spencer, being raised within the Spencer Foundation. He, along with several other likeminded intelligent children were raised to become Spencer's new race of advanced humans, who he could infect with a modified strain of the Progenitor Virus. He was given the finest education that money could buy and eventually tended college, graduating at the age of 17.
Umbrella Career[]
Wesker was then found and hired by Umbrella Pharmaceuticals in 1977, due to his outstanding academics, where he and others like him were brought to a company-ran boarding school. This school taught him many facets of aggressive and inhuman values necessary to allow them to excel in the company's viral weapon research. While most were considered lackluster, Wesker and an 18 year old William Birkin were the only 2 exceptions, showing a ruthless character for their research. It was then Dr. James Marcus took interest in the 2 rising stars, earning his trust. Due to many scandals and cover ups, the school was closed down come year's end and both Wesker and Birkin were given positions at the Arklay laboratory, just outside Raccoon City.
Wesker's assignment started as soon as his arrival to the laboratory and both prodigies were able to successfully splice genes from the Ebola virus into a stolen strain of the T-Virus, which bypassed the immune system better and allowed for the subject to survive the infection, resulting in the creation of zombies. It was due to Spencer's rejecting of the virus being used to kill, that paved the way for future research into the virus. Research into the T-Virus progressed well, however created decent B.O.Ws with sub-human intelligence, resulting in the company to pressure both men into newer research. In 1988 however, Spencer ordered the assassination of Dr. Marcus, which Wesker and Birkin were present for and stole his data, which was 10 years of research that the later doctor kept to himself. The Tyrant Project presented a major step in the project, but because the current virus at the time gave advantageous abilities to one in ten million people, the project was stalled until a new strain could be made to make the production of Tyrants easier and then clone them.
In order to work around this issue, they gained a favor from Spencer, for a more intelligent B.O.W, which led to them obtaining a parasite from Umbrella Europe, the Nemesis-Alpha, which they hoped would allow them to solve the issue of the intelligence, as well as allowing the weapons to be trained. Once the parasite was obtained, it was implanted into Lisa Trevor, who was already a mutated human at the time. Trevor's immune system however, killed the parasite, but led to the discovery of the G-Virus, leading to Birkin being transferred to the NEST facility in Raccoon City nearby. Wesker would then leave the lab as well, beginning his investigation into why Spencer preferred to fund the G-Virus, as it was not worthy of bio-weapon development. As a result, he took up a position in the intelligence bureau to find answers. Following his departure from Umbrella, Wesker took on several other jobs throughout the 1990s, such as being a member of the US Army, working in their own illegal experiments with bio-weapons, as well as a mole. It was also during this time he became briefly and sexually involved with an Edonian woman that had the last name Muller. The relationship didn't last long and he wasn't aware of her pregnancy with his child.
In 1996 however, Wesker would be reassigned to work for a privately-funded special police force in the Raccoon City Police Department, referred to as the Special Tactics And Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S). S.T.A.R.S was a private force for the company, who took on domestic terrorism and their way to keep the police from investigating the company. Wesker was made captain of Alpha Team and given seniority over Bravo Team captain Enrico Marini. It was also during this time, that Wesker, along with fellow S.T.A.R.S members Jill Valentine, Barry Burton and Chris Redfield, tested a new sidearm for S.T.A.R.S members, eventually approving of Joseph Kendo's new Beretta 92F Custom 'Samurai Edge' pistol.
Betrayal (1998)[]
In the summer of 1998, a significant upset in Umbrella's plans occurred in Raccoon City, as the newer Epsilon Strain of the T-Virus began infecting Arklay Laboratory personnel. This resulted in the guards posted there to begin executing escaping employees. Wesker and Birkin would return following the raising of the alarm to evacuate cloned embryos of the T-002 Tyrant, with Wesker ordering that all phone calls be forbidden, reducing the spread of any information leaking. Several Cerberus B.O.Ws did escape and began killing people within the Raccoon Forest. Those who survived the attack and were infected, would later go onto kill and infect others, which resulted in a total of at least 20 people dying. People suspected that a cult was within the area and due to backlash from the press, the R.P.D handed this case over to the S.T.A.R.S team. Umbrella HQ would then produce the X-Day plans, which Wesker would have to not only to collect the remaining embryos, but also let his teams become victims to the B.O.Ws for combat data. His final order was to destroy the lab and leave no trace of the virus. On July 23, Wesker would sabotage the helicopter engine of Bravo Team, preventing their escape, leading to Alpha Team to begin an investigation.
As he prepared with S.T.A.R.S, Wesker and Birkin had other matters to attend to, including the oversight of re-opening of the executive training school, to compensate for the loss of the laboratory. A Nascent mutant leech colony however, attacked two armed investigation teams, before attacking an Umbrella-owned train, carrying personnel to the school. Birkin and Wesker then planned to destroy the school to prevent further spread of the infection, but during this event, met with the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service executive officer, Col. Sergei Vladimir, following Umbrella HQ learning of the incident. Wesker escaped the destruction of the facility, but also found that his experience convinced him to leaving Umbrella being essential. He would then agree to employment offered to him by the rival company, in exchange for him giving them the embryos rather than Umbrella. Wesker would lead Alpha Team to the mountains and in order to better aid in his survival, was given the Prototype Virus, which would enhance his physical abilities. Wesker also threatened Barry Burton with his family's murder, in order to get him to aid in the confiscation or destruction of evidence needed to incriminate Umbrella. They would discover the downed chopper of Bravo Team, as well as run into the escaped Cerberus pack, leaving Joseph Frost killed and Brad Vickers abandoning his post.
Wesker and the others fled to the Spencer Mansion, where they separated into groups before continuing his mission. He would then find Captain Marini still alive, but injured in a tunnel, resulting in Wesker killing him. He would then go to the lab in order to awaken the Tyrant to kill the remaining members of his team. He also infected himself with the Prototype Virus prior to this and would later be confronted by his comrades, confessing his affiliation with Umbrella. He would then order the Tyrant to attack his team, only for the Tyrant to turn and stab him, as he was responsible for his role in the T-Virus project. While seriously injured, the virus in Wesker's system was successful in mutating his body and its regenerative powers saved him from death. Wesker would then awaken in the empty room, learning that the self-destruct was prematurely activated and attempted to obtain the data before making his escape. He was unsuccessful in retrieving any information or embryos due to Col. Vladimir and the RED QUEEN AI restricting his computer access, leaving him to narrowly escape the mansion and taking out Lisa Trevor in the process. Despite his failure and believing to be dead by both Umbrella and S.T.A.R.S, Wesker gained employment with the rival company.
The Organization (1998-2004)[]
In order to keep up with the facade of him being dead, Wesker kept himself from the public eye, taking on the responsibility of being a contact for the Organization and its spies. Wesker became an external contact with the group and their spy, Ada Wong and a liaison, following the completion of the G-Virus by Dr. William Birkin, which they planned on stealing for themselves. With Wong's investigation being hindered by the outbreak of the T-Virus, the Liaison killed himself rather than succumb to infection. Wesker took over for the Liaison via computer feed, waiting for Ada on October 1st, where he directed her to an Umbrella chopper transporting Col. Vladimir and an executive out of the city. Ada was able to escape the city before the bomb hit.
With the G-Virus in their grasp, the Organization sent the H.C.F out on raids to Umbrella bases all over the world, mostly to retrieve data and bioweapon samples. In December of 1998, Wesker led a raid on Rockfort Island, where he was searching for samples of the T-Veronica Virus created by Alexia Ashford. Saboteurs would be sent in ahead of the assault teams to plant explosives. As a result, the T-Virus was unleashed onto the island's ecosystem, creating a number of B.O.Ws in the process and much of the infrastructure of the island being bombarded by H.C.F. forces. Despite failing in finding samples of the virus on the island, Wesker discovered Claire Redfield, the younger sister of his subordinate Chris on the island, who had been held in a concentration camp. He attempted to kill her, but was interrupted and forced to leave. He attempted to also kill Chris a day after, but left the island, learning of Alexia's location at the Umbrella base in Antarctica.
Refugees who fled to this base however, had caused an outbreak of the T-Virus here as well, but through a submarine pen, the team was able to successfully infiltrate the facility. While in the underground manor, Wesker encountered an awakened Alexia Ashford, demanding she surrender herself, as well as the virus dwelling within her body. Refusing, Alexia transformed and caught Wesker off guard, leading to a brief skirmish between both superhumans. Encountering Chris Redfield once more, Wesker let him deal with Alexia, while he fled the mansion. The H.C.F. however were able to get a sample of the T-Veronica Virus after retrieving the body of the recently-infected Steve Burnside. Wesker also learned that both Redfield siblings were at the Antarctica base, which he would use as an opportunity to end them both. Initially confronting Claire, Wesker was to take her to the submarine as a hostage, but was convinced otherwise when Chris showed up and promised him a fight. Freeing Claire, Wesker didn't miss the opportunity and engaged Chris, but ended up defeated, following Chris dropping a bunch of metal girders onto him, but not killing him. As the base self-destructed however, Wesker left for the submarine.
Following the inevitable collapse of the Umbrella Corporation beginning, Wesker took on a more senior role in which he sold the various bioweapons that were being manufactured by the Organization from both the G-Virus, T-Veronica Virus and cloned B.O.Ws. By August of 2002, Wesker negotiated a deal with decade-old customer of Umbrella, drug lord Javier Hidalgo. He believed he was being conned by increasing prices of Russian production, leading Wesker to convince him to stop buying from Umbrella and instead move towards a third-party Asian broker, who began asking Hidalgo for information, which was actually an Umbrella agent investigating him. Not long following selling the T-Veronica virus to Hidalgo, did the drug lord go into a murderous rage due to his daughter fleeing. This resulted in a viral outbreak, resulting in a number of B.O.Ws attacking nearby communities. The Anti-Umbrella Pursuit and Investigation Team arrived and dealt with the biohazard, while also investigating the Asian broker.
By 2003, the Organization became aware of a possible biohazard in the Caucasus, leading them to discover the secret Umbrella base in Russia. Wesker would go there, searching for the Arklay lab's supercomputer, the U.M.F.-013, which had been confiscated by Col. Vladimir 5 years prior to the arrival of Alpha team at the Spencer Mansion. Heading to a village near Umbrella's oil base, Wesker discovered it succumbed to an outbreak and the Hunter Delta B.O.Ws kept locked up by bribed inhabitants had escaped captivity. Wesker searched for development data when he encountered Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, but was unable to kill them, having retrieved the desired data and fled. By the time the outbreak fully engulfed the base, Wesker arrived to the base, seeking Vladimir. He engaged two of his Ivan bodyguards before continuing his pursuit and reached a nearby control center. Once there, Wesker engaged Vladimir, who infected himself with a perfected form of the T-Virus after overseeing the fight between the T-A.L.O.S, Chris and Jill. Vladimir and Wesker fought until Vladimir was beaten, allowing Wesker to download the entirety of the U.M.F.-013 and ordering RED QUEEN to delete the files, leaving nothing for his former S.T.A.R.S. comrades to obtain. Following this, Wesker provided excerpts from archives to the US government. These excerpts provided irrefutable evidence of Umbrella's guilt, which aided against a dead-end lawsuit against the corporation for damages and destruction of Raccoon City. Once a verdict was reached, Umbrella was forced to pay reparations to victims and both US and Russia began a worldwide manhunt for Umbrella's founder, Oswell E. Spencer.
Partnership with Tricell (2003-2009)[]
During the raid on the Caucasus lab, Wesker gave the Umbrella archive data to geneticist at Tricell, Excella Gionne, who shared his low opinion for people outside their lines of work. With the in-depth information on the T-Virus he gave to Gionne, her career excelled, as did the development of their bioweapon projects, eventually leading her to become CEO of Tricell, Africa, as well as de facto leader of their bioweapon development. Wesker and Gionne became close business partners, to the point where he entrusted her to administer his PG67A/W serum to maintain his powers. While she did possess a sexual attraction towards Wesker, these feelings were not reciprocated. By 2004, Wesker and the Organization was made aware, by Ada Wong, of the cult known as Los Illuminados, as well as their use and experimentation of the Plaga parasite. Ada had intercepted an email sent by Luis Serra, which was meant for a friend from his university days, but he had no idea that he had died, to which Ada had access to the account. Jack Krauser, was sent into find a dominant strain of the plaga for the Organization, circumventing Luis as a result. Krauser succeeded in capturing a dominant sample, but kept it for himself, as Osmund Saddler didn't trust him, even after he kidnapped Ashley Graham, the president's daughter at the time. While this was transpiring however, leaks of Wesker's meeting with Tricell came to the attention of both Wong and the Organization, believing that he would eventually betray them. As a result, they pushed Wesker to make Ada a liaison between themselves and Luis, as a way of obtaining another sample of the parasite. The Organization however, told Ada to give Wesker a recessive version of the parasite, which Wesker planned to give to Tricell. Despite all this, Wesker knew about the Organization having knowledge of his dealings, while also receiving a recessive plaga, however he did eventually gain the desired dominant plaga from the body of Krauser himself, following his defeat by Leon S. Kennedy.
By 2006, Wesker and Gionne brought Ricardo Irving in on a new B.O.W ring, in order to sell B.O.W side-products for funding future research without a paper trail. This resulted in the construction of a massive B.O.W research and development facility within the same cavern in Africa where the Progenitor Virus was discovered by Umbrella years before. It was through this connection with Irving, that Oswell E. Spencer, contacted Wesker, who met him at his estate. It was here that Wesker learned about Project W, which was to create a new breed of humans created through viral-based eugenics. Wesker was unaware that the goal of Umbrella and B.O.Ws all this time was to accomplish this goal. As Spencer was dying, Wesker decided that the former Umbrella CEO outlived his usefulness and he impaled him with his bare hand. Not long following this incident however, Chris and Jill, now B.S.A.A. operatives arrived and engaged Wesker in a two on one fight. Wesker got the upper hand on Chris and nearly killed him, but Jill tackled Wesker through the window, sending them both careening to their deaths. Surviving this, with an unconscious Jill, Wesker realized the resistance he had encountered in the past, while also realizing his identity's revelations. It was through this, that the Uroboros project began, where he would unleash a virus that would not only rid the world of organizations like the B.S.A.A, but also create a new breed of superhumans, with himself as their god. Valentine was kept in storage as a test subject, alongside thousands more, kidnapped over the course of 2 years. Further analysis proved that due to T-Virus antibodies in her body, Jill was a poor subject and instead of killing her, Wesker regularly injected her with a performance-enhancing drug, making her an unwilling agent for him.
Uroboros Project & Death (2009)[]
In the 2 years since his encounter with Chris, Wesker continued his work on the Uroboros project. This included a specialized missile designed for the releasing of the virus into the troposphere, in order to force both death and evolution upon humanity and were even able to acquire a stealth bomber from an unknown seller. Despite Wesker and Gionne running a tight operation, executing employees when they've outlived their usefulness, leaks of the project were still able to be released as a result. While the B.S.A.A. heard rumors of a "Doomsday project", as well as the possibility of Jill Valentine's survival, no evidence was found. After Irving was suspected of assisting a local uprising using bioweapons, the B.S.A.A. were sent into Kijuju to detain him. Chris Redfield and his partner, Sheva Alomar, were able to kill an infected Irving before he told them about a cavern nearby, as well as the name of Excella. In the caverns and ancient temple, Redfield and Alomar found Gionne, Wesker and Jill, who they engaged in a brief fight. Wesker left Valentine to deal with both agents, while he and Gionne boarded a ship with the bomber on board. Upon learning that both B.S.A.A. operatives boarded the ship however, Wesker betrayed Gionne, infecting her with Uroboros as a result, allowing her mutation to deal with the agents as he continued preparations.
With even a mutated Excella failing to stop Chris and Sheva, they engaged in a 2 on 1 fight against Wesker, but this time, was able to poison him with his PG67A/W serum, weakening his condition. Despite this, he boarded the bomber and took off, however both agents boarded the plane as well. After a brief fight in the cargo bay, the rear hatch was opened, leading Wesker to be pulled out. He planned to take both of them with him, however, Sheva shot him, causing him to let go of her. Wesker was able to survive, as the bomber crashed into the crater of a nearby volcano. With his plans up in smoke, Wesker would resort to infecting himself with Uroboros and engage both Redfield and Alomar one final time. During the fight however, the rocks he was standing on gave way, causing him to fall into the molten lava below his feet. While still alive, Wesker attempted to stop a B.S.A.A. helicopter from fleeing with Chris and Sheva, manned by Jill and Josh Stone. Sheva and Chris took two RPG-7s and launched them at Wesker, destroying him once and for all.
Legacy[]
Word of Wesker's death would spread through the B.O.W underworld, to individuals and organizations and among them was Ada Wong and Alex Wesker. While Ada found herself feeling empty due to Wesker's presence vanishing, Alex however, found herself both saddened and truly alone, having regarded Wesker as her sibling and equal. As such, Alex continued to further her research into creating a new race of superhumans, while also studying samples of Uroboros that were either donated by Albert or recovered following his death in Africa. Sherry Birkin, who had been under protective custody since she was a child, had also laxed after Wesker was confirmed dead, allowing her to take up a position as a D.S.O. operative.
The rehabilitated Umbrella Co. private military company would eventually go to confiscate much of Wesker's research, data and products, which also included tactics and anti-B.O.W countermeasures that had total neutralization in mind as a last resort. Jake Muller, Albert's illegitimate son, who he had no knowledge about, would go onto become a mercenary in Edonia. Jake seemed to have inherited some of Wesker's abilities, including enhanced physical strength, durability and even his immunity to all viruses, even artificially engineered ones. Using Wesker's research, the US-based Umbrella Co. Anti-Bioweapon Development Bureau creted the "Anti-B.O.W. Albert System Weapon Series", which saw results of weapons like the Samurai Edge Albert.W.Model 01 handgun and even the Thor's Hammer Albert.W.Model 02 automatic shotgun. These weapons proved to be extremely effective against the B.O.Ws encountered. Prior to his death, The H.C.F. had a role in the creation of a Mold enhanced through the Progenitor Virus, resulting in the creation of an artificially-born bioweapon known as E-001 or Eveline.
Biography (Films)[]
Wesker in Resident Evil: Afterlife, aboard the Arcadia.
In the Resident Evil films directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Albert Wesker serves as the chairman of the Umbrella corporation, having served with the company since 1995 and having been loyal to Co-Founder of Umbrella, Alexander Isaacs. On Isaacs' order, Wesker was responsible for the death of Dr. James Marcus. Wesker wasn't seen until Resident Evil: Extinction, where he commands Alexander Isaac's clone to find a way to use the zombies as a form of slave labor to aid in the rebuilding process. Once Isaacs was dead, Wesker was contacted by Alice Abernathy in the aftermath of the fight in Nevada. Wesker remained safe in his base beneath Tokyo, where Alice and her army of clones attacked, forcing Wesker to retreat, but encounter the real Alice aboard his VTOL. Wesker was able to overpower her and inject her with a serum to render her powerless just before crash landing into Mt. Fuji. Wesker wasn't revealed until later in the film, where it was revealed he indeed survived and was aboard the Arcadia, possessing powers like Alice, however was fighting for control. Believing if he ingested Alice's flesh, he would gain full control. This leads into a conflict between himself, Alice and the Redfield siblings Chris and Claire, resulting in Albert's defeat by the trio. Despite this, he didn't stay down, as he fed upon the flesh of his most recent lackey Bennett Sinclair before leaving the ship on a VTOL and attempted to destroy the ship, but ended up blowing up himself instead.
Wesker returns in Resident Evil: Retribution, this time under the guise of a former Umbrella employee, sending a strike team to Umbrella Prime in Northern Russia to save Alice. With little choice, Alice had to work together with the strike team to flee the facility. She would arrive in a war-torn Washington D.C, meeting with Wesker in the Oval office, where he injected her with the T-Virus again, however it was truly a placebo, giving her the illusion of having restored her powers. In Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Wesker had played his hand at the White House, causing the deaths of most of the people there, believing Alice to have died in the chaos. He was able to safely return to Raccoon City's facility known as the Hive. By the time he is seen in the Hive however, Wesker doesn't possess any of his former powers, but still is a dangerous adversary. Wesker uses the various B.O.Ws to take on the survivors of Raccoon City, only to succeed in diminishing their numbers, but not killing Alice or Claire Redfield. Despite this however, Wesker is able to take Claire hostage for the final confrontation, but Alicia Marcus, Alice's genetic template, fires him from his position as the chairman, leading to the automated defenses attacking him and crushing his leg with a blast door, leading to Alice giving him a detonator he had to hold if he wanted to see Umbrella succeed. Wesker bleeds to death, causing him to drop the detonator, killing everyone inside the facility, even the Umbrella High command in cryogenic stasis.
Powers & Abilities[]
Powers[]
- Prototype Virus-Enhanced Physiology: Initially, prior to his infection, Wesker possessed superior genetics, which made him immune to every known viral agent, even those genetically engineered or altered. Following being injected with the Prototype Virus, Wesker's body had molded the virus to his benefit, giving him powers and abilities which made him rival even the most physically fit of humans like Chris Redfield. The only real physical side effect was the alteration to his eyes, which had a yellow or red hue. The pupils were more like slits, similar to a reptiles or a cat and whenever he felt an intense emotion like anger, they would glow brighter. His abilities are attributed to his increased metabolism.
- Superhuman Strength: Albert possesses superior physical strength, which enables him to effortlessly lift a fully grown and physically fit male like Chris Redfield with one hand with ease. He is also capable of killing a B.O.W with a singular strike, as well as capable of intercepting and throwing missiles single-handed.
- Superhuman Speed: One of his most notable abilities comes in the form of his impressive and yet, inhuman speed. The virus allows him to move at speeds faster than the normal human brain can calculate, typically using it to make dashes to the side to evade incoming projectiles like bullets. Whenever he moves at this speed, it looks as though he is teleporting. His reflexes are also enhanced to the same level as his speed.
- Superhuman Agility: Wesker possesses quick and sharp senses, allowing him to easily dodge incoming fire from enemy opponents, as well as take on opponents in hand to hand combat.
- Superhuman Leap: Wesker possesses an ability to leap from great distances and land on his feet without any damage to himself. He demonstrated this after he was poisoned by Chris and Sheva.
- Enhanced Durability: While he typically makes sure he doesn't get hit, Wesker has been known to have taken several otherwise fatal blows prior to his death. He is capable of withstanding several thousands of pounds in steel falling on top of him, which only dazed him for a few seconds, as well as resisting the intense heat of magma when he fell into it in his final confrontation with Chris and Sheva.
- Suspended Aging: Since being infected, Wesker hasn't shown any signs of aging. This would indicate that the virus either stopped the aging process altogether or at the very least, slowed it to a crawl. Whether he was able to actually live far longer than a normal human is unknown, as he died before 2010.
- Enhanced Healing Factor: Wesker possessed an advanced, yet limited, healing factor, which enabled him to heal from injuries that would otherwise take a normal human a while to heal within a short time.
- Dominant Genetics: Wesker possesses superior genetic material, allowing to override those he procreates with and that included the mother of his illegitimate son, Jake.
- Resurrection: So long as the majority of his body remained intact, Wesker was capable of resurrecting himself.
- Surface Adhesion: Wesker demonstrated while aboard the bomber, that he could easily adhere to solid surfaces, such as the ceiling of the passenger bay of the bomber.
- Uroboros-Enhanced Physiology: During his final confrontation with Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar, Wesker willingly infected himself with the Uroboros virus. Unlike most others infected by this virus, Wesker possessed total control and utilized its power in an attempt to kill both B.S.A.A. operatives. All of his other abilities he had prior were elevated passed their limits, with the exception of his speed. While it elevated his abilities significantly, the only price to this power was the more grotesque form he took onto himself.
- Superhuman Durability: As durable as he was prior to the Uroboros infection, Wesker's resilience skyrocketed to the point where he was capable of withstanding multiple hits to the body, regardless of their lethality. Even intense heat from magma was unable to kill him initially, instead causing him great pain.
- Assimilation: Wesker was capable of assimilating inorganic matter into his body, such as his use of metal parts from the downed bomber as a form of crude weapon.
- Tentacle Generation: Through pustules of the virus, Wesker was easily able to generate tentacles, which he could use to both grab his targets and even use in his attacks.
- Limited Electrokinesis: Through the metal he assimilated, Wesker showed to have the ability to use electricity to some extent.
Abilities[]
- Genius-Level Intellect: From the very beginning, Wesker had shown to possess impressive intellectual abilities, which served him well throughout his life. He possesses a knowledge in a variety of different fields, however his mostly pertain to virology, as well as engineering. It was through his intellect that he was able to graduate college at just 17.
- Martial Arts: Wesker possesses an expertise in martial arts, which when combined with his powers, make him an extremely dangerous combatant.
- Firearms Expert: Wesker possesses a knowledge in varying firearms, which likely stemmed from his time in the military and his time as a double agent for Umbrella as a member of S.T.A.R.S.
Weaknesses[]
- Viral Instability: While the virus in Wesker's body enabled him amazing superhuman feats, it is however unstable and therefore, he needs to regularly take a serum to maintain a balance. Without it however, Wesker's abilities will be stunted.
- Serum Overdose: The serum Wesker needs to maintain his powers, which is PG67A/W, must be administered at a certain time and in precise doses. Failure to administer the serum will stunt his abilities and an overdose will actually act as a poison, beginning to destroy him from the inside. Even after being injected with 2 doses of his serum and suffering its effects, Wesker's abilities still possesses his abilities.
- Extreme Heat: While infected with the Uroboros virus, Wesker gained it's vulnerability to intense heat, which would eventually lead to his downfall at the hands of Chris and Sheva.
- Exposed Organs: While infected with Uroboros, Wesker possessed glowing organs at both the front and back of his body, which are typically protected by the tentacles of the virus, but are exposed at certain intervals, allowing Chris or Sheva to damage them.
- Darkness: When fighting Chris and Sheva on the ship before launching the bomber, Wesker demonstrated that he cannot see in the dark very well, allowing his enemies to get the drop on him easily if he's not careful.
- Overconfidence: When in combat with others, Wesker has shown to easily underestimate his enemies way too often. He often considers himself the superior party in every fight, which typically causes him to make mistakes that could indeed become fatal or at the very least, damaging to himself.

Trivia[]
- Wesker wasn't presented in the films until Resident Evil: Extinction. By then, Jason O'Mara portrayed Wesker, however Shawn Roberts would portray the character in the final 3 films. Roberts initially did try for the role of Chris Redfield however.
- In the games, Wesker is shown to carry his trademarked Beretta 92F Custom "Samurai Edge" as his only weapon, which he uses aside from his powers. In his live-action performance, Wesker was seen initially wielding one or two Mark XIX Desert Eagles, chambered in .50 Action Express. He had one of these guns when he was seen at the end of Resident Evil: Retribution. It wouldn't be until The Final Chapter however, that his gun would change to his trademark Samurai Edge.
- In the games, Wesker's powers hailed from a strain of the Progenitor Virus called the Prototype Virus. While this made him possess superhuman powers, he needed to regularly inject himself with a precise dose of a special serum. In the films however, Wesker possesses all the same abilities, but they come from the T-Virus, which causes him to possess cannibalistic tendencies, which causes him to struggle for control.
- In the games, Wesker did work with Umbrella for a time, but would later leave them for another organization of bioterrorists, long before Umbrella would collapse. In the films, Wesker would continue to work for the Umbrella Corporation until his death in the Hive.
