As a Kiwi myself I am curious to know how our small and isolated nation did during WWZ. I remember that there was a mention of a Maori resistance that did quite well against the Auckland horde but other than that I know very little. Was there something that I missed in the books or is this all we know?
I'd imagine that Australia would get overrun quickly because of its proximity to the string of islands that runs down from asia which would make it a target for refugees. However NZ is quite a bit further away so while I can see some people trying to make the journey from eastern Aus we wouldn't see nearly as many as australia might. Provided that Auckland was overrun I'd say that the Waikato area would soon follow because of the lack of natural obsticals. Most of the north island and then the country would follow but i can see that there would be a few places where survivors could hold out. The islands off the coast of Auckland like Great Barrier is one such location as well as the more isolated towns in the south such as queenstown which has a natural barrier of mountain that would protect it. I could also see the possibility that wellington may also hold out because of the rugged terrain that surrounds it.
