The zombies in the Walking Dead have only their brain stem and cerebellum active right? but then how do they sense their prey and go after it? The parts of the brain that controls the five senses and movement are in the cerebrum I think

In the walking dead it was assumed that an airborne/waterborne virus caused the zombie apocalypse, but it doesn't really make sense to me. Even an airborne/waterborne virus would take a long time to infect the whole population (Providing that no one noticed) and if someone died before everyone got infected the outbreak would start but some people will turn and some won't. Any ideas?

Nearly everyone on this planet has seen a Zombie Apocalypse Landscape, with loads of death and destruction everywhere, and to top it all off, Zombies that are littered around in various groups and sizes. There are also Living Humans in the forms of Bandits, Infected, Psychopaths, and Survivors looking to restart the Human Race.

However, there is one element that is missing from all of this, and it isn't the abundance of Flora that inhabits the Zombie infested Planet, although most of the Flora are either Infected or Dead, with a few straggling Flora left to save the Green from extinction.

I am of course, talking about Fauna: The Animal Kingdom that have been in rapid decline since Humans began to reproduce, a fact that will double due to the Zombie Apocalypse. I have several questions on my mind on the topic of Fauna.

3) Are the Animals all Dead?

4) Which Animals would Die First?

5) Where is the Evidence for Mass Animal Extinction?

I have seen a lot of zombie movies that have shown zombie animals, let alone have seen some zombie movies with animals still thriving as usual, but there are other zombie movies that I have seen where there are no Animals at all, which has got me talking about this Fauna Topic here.
